About

Mimi Nizan (Amsterdam, 1985) is an illustrator with French and Martinique roots. Fairytale settings and playful or moody characters are recognizable elements in her work.

As a kid, I was often reading or drawing, fascinated by imaginary worlds and being able to escape through them. It was like a portal to magical journeys and adventures!

Then, I started working weekends at age fourteen, mostly at local stores. After finishing high school, I studied Media Management and interned at a Dutch national TV station at the archives. I worked in museum cloakrooms and at the editorial office for a fashion magazine (online department). The people I met through the years inspired some of my drawings.

In 2012 I started focusing more on my illustrations and creating a portfolio. And in 2013, Zalando asked me to make some live sketches during fashion week. This opportunity opened the door to more exciting projects. Since then, I have worked for clients such as Moët & Chandon, H&M, Estée Lauder, Lancôme, Unieboek Het Spectrum en L’Officiel.

Now I am focusing on creating illustrations for kids, a lifelong dream of mine. Besides that, I am also very interested in nature and trying to learn more about making cities greener.

Right now I’m not available for live-art bookings, but I’ve enjoyed being a part of those events very much. Here’s a small selection of some of these projects.
