My name is Mimi. Welcome to my website and thank you for taking the time to view my work. I’m an illustrator (sometimes creative director) from Amsterdam. I fancy reading on a rainy afternoon, watching fantastical films and brewing a fresh pot of tea.
As a kid I was always reading books or drawing. During my studies I interned at a national (Dutch) TV station/production company. I actually kept working in the tv industry for a bit and had my fair share of not-so-creative jobs after that. For instance, I was working in the cloakroom of the Stedelijk Museum for nearly two years. I must say that the environment was gorgeous (and visiting exhibitions for free was no punishment!) but while I was running around all day, hanging up thousands of visitor’s jackets and backpacks I knew I had to start doing something with my greatest passion: illustrating. In the evenings after work I went home and made as many drawings as I could.
In 2013 I created a video illustrating Alice in Wonderland, shared it on social media and emailed it to contacts. After that, fashion brands starting contacting me and asking me to do live-art for their events. I began working with magazines and lifestyle brands as well. Since then I’ve worked for clients such as: Moët & Chandon, H&M, Hugo Boss, Estée Lauder, Kit Kat, TOPSHOP, Lancôme, UGG Australia, Ted baker, Marc Cain, CosmoGIRL! and L’officiel Magazine.
While continuing to work with fashion and lifestyle brands (love doing it!) I’m now also taking the time to make what I’ve always wanted to make: children’s illustrations and picture book illustrations. I’ve just recently started sharing these on my website and social channels, and I’m planning to make a lot more. My goal right now is to work together with publishers and authors to create interesting, fun and wondrous stories!
